Por defecto, ArcGIS Online utilitza el sistema de coordenadas (spatial reference) WGS 1984 Web Mercator. Este es también el sistema de coordenadas utilizado por los basemaps de Esri. Sin embargo, ¿Es siempre este? ¿Podemos cambiarlo? La respuesta es sí.
El web map, al final, utilizará el sistema de coordenadas de tu basemap. En este tutorial de Learn ArcGIS, se indica:
To change the map’s projection, you need to change the basemap. The projection of a web map is determined by its basemap. You can make a web map with any projection. However, tiled layers (including basemaps) can’t be reprojected, so in many projects, you will have to decide which is more important: a detailed ready-made basemap or an appropriate map projection.
Para concluir, este artículo de ArcGIS Blog también comenta:
In ArcGIS Online Map Viewer all layers in a web map inherit the coordinate system from the basemap. Web Mercator is the coordinate system of the default basemaps. However, this does not mean that data used for analysis must have the same projection as the basemap. Thanks to the ArcGIS “Projection on the Fly” algorithm, when a feature service with a different coordinate system and projection is added, it is re-projected on the fly onto the web map. It is important to point out that “Projection on the Fly” does not change the original data’s projection. It merely displays the features in the web map coordinate system for visualization purposes.

Como puedes ver, se trata de un servicio cuya proyección (spatial reference) es 31370 o Lambert72. Lambert72 es junto con Lambert2008 una las dos proyecciones estándar en Bélgica.
